Documentary photography is particularly close to my heart, both as a wedding photographer and as a magazine and event photographer. So, of course, I was very happy when I heard that I had won silver in the “Note a professional” photography competition organized by the Savo Vocational College and the Kuopio Kameraseura Ry. I entered the contest with a picture that had never been featured anywhere before! I had taken this photo called Valumiehet in connection with a photography gig, but another photo (also a Finnish Photo Awards finalist) from the same situation ended up in the magazine I worked for. So, sometimes both piling up image archives and fluffing them up is worthwhile! Antti Karppinen himself won the competition, so I didn’t lose the first place to a really bad one 😀
